CropLogic wins IBM SmartCamp Australia and New Zealand

CropLogic provide decision support systems to potato crop growers and processors.

IBM named CropLogic the winner of the IBM SmartCamp Australia and New Zealand – part of a global programme for start-up companies.

Croplogic is in powerHouse’s 2011 investment portfolio and was the only New Zealand finalist in the IBM SmartCamp event held in Sydney.

CropLogic provides decision support systems, based on a predictive crop modelling tool to crop growers and processors.

Currently being used by potato processors, the technology enables customers to forecast supply and make critical decisions relating to harvest and storage plans ahead of time. It also enables growers to forecast potential stresses on plant growth, enabling them to make decisions that mitigate these risks.

CropLogic uses science developed by Plant and Food Research extending back more than 20 years.

“We are honoured to be named the inaugural winner of IBM SmartCamp A/NZ,” said Jane Hill, Chief Executive of CropLogic. “Our experience at this event has been invaluable. We have gained a lot of very valuable insights from all the mentors and have started to build up a network of contacts that will help us grow our business.”

CropLogic will progress to the regional SmartCamp event in Beijing and face-off with winners from IBM SmartCamps across Asia.
